Elizabeth Alston

Elizabeth Alston serves as the Human Resources Manager for Rising from the Shadows, where she is responsible for coordinating events, recruiting and training team members, and implementing strategic initiatives that support organizational growth. She works to help manage the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that processes run smoothly and efficiently. With a strong eye for detail and a talent for organization, Elizabeth creates an environment of structure, accountability, and excellence that helps the team thrive.

A dedicated professional with both technical and creative strengths, Elizabeth is passionate about helping Rising from the Shadows expand its reach and impact. She plays a key role in building and strengthening the brand, developing strategies that support long-term growth and sustainability. Her commitment to the mission is evident in the care, energy, and intentionality she brings to every project and initiative.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Elizabeth is a devoted mother to two beautiful children and a woman who loves Jesus. She enjoys spending time with family, attending concerts and fairs, and making lasting memories with those she loves. Driven by faith and purpose, she is passionate about raising awareness of issues affecting women and sharing messages of self-love, self-awareness, healing, and hope. Elizabeth remains committed to helping others discover their value, purpose, and potential while supporting the mission of Rising from the Shadows.

Cynthia Graham

Cynthia Graham (Cindy) is our Creative Media Specialist. Cynthia brings creativity, innovation, and a passion for purpose-driven communication to our team. In her role, she will leverage artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge tools to create impactful advertising campaigns that increase brand awareness, promote prevention education, and strengthen the identity and reach of Rising from the Shadows.

Cynthia is a dedicated, motivated, and compassionate individual who wholeheartedly believes in the mission and vision of Rising from the Shadows. Her commitment to serving others is reflected in both her personal and professional life. She loves Jesus, enjoys spending quality time with her Godchildren, Mariah and Christian, exploring new restaurants, and embracing the joy of life's experiences.

Most importantly, Cynthia is committed to using her talents and creative abilities for the glory of God. Her heart for service, combined with her expertise in media and technology, makes her a valuable addition to the Rising from the Shadows family. We are excited to see how her gifts will help expand our impact and inspire others to step out of the shadows and into hope, healing, and purpose.

Shakura Woodland

Program and Outreach Manager

Shakura Woodland serves as the Program and Outreach Manager for Rising from the Shadows, LLC. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young people. With aspirations of one day establishing a foundation dedicated to supporting underserved and underrepresented children, Shakura has made it her mission to help youth discover their purpose, potential, and path in life. Her compassion, dedication, and heart for service make her an invaluable member of the Rising from the Shadows team.

In her role, Shakura serves as a key leader within the H.A.V.E.N. Program, helping to advance prevention education and community outreach initiatives. She works to bridge gaps in equity by creating meaningful educational opportunities and safe spaces where young boys and girls can learn, grow, and develop the skills needed to navigate today's world successfully. Working closely with Founder Latoya M. Alston, Shakura is actively involved in learning the organization's vision, strengthening community partnerships, and helping to develop impactful messaging that supports the program's mission and goals.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Shakura enjoys expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. She is a lifelong learner who believes in the power of creativity as a tool for both education and empowerment. Her passion for teaching, mentoring, and inspiring others shines through in everything she does. Rising from the Shadows is honored to have such a gifted, compassionate, and purpose-driven individual serving the community, and we look forward to seeing the many ways God will continue to use her talents to uplift and empower others.
